Graphic featuring a sepia-toned image from the ground-level perspective of railroad tracks during sunset with smokestack in the landscape on the left with a smoky, hazy overcast in the sky. To the right are three silhouettes of people walking toward a mound. The Shiloh Museum’s Not Strictly History series will feature a showing of the PBS documentary, Slavery by Another Name, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, at the Shiloh Meeting Hall. This 90-minute documentary challenges the idea that slavery in the United States ended with the Emancipation Proclamation. It takes a sobering look as to how African Americans were pulled into forced labor that was, in itself, a form of slavery that continued long after the Civil War ended.

A discussion, moderated by Shiloh Museum staff, will follow. Popcorn, snacks, and beverages will be available.

This in-person event is also available online. Click here to stream the movie at any time. Viewers may then participate in the discussion via Zoom at 8 p.m. Please note this free online discussion is limited to 100 participants. Registration is required. After you register, you will receive an email confirmation with a Zoom link to join the event.
