Illustration of two children exploring; one points ahead, the other holds a lantern. Text reading "Little Historians LIGHTS!" is on a dark blue background. In this session of our Little Historians series, pre-kindergarten students will explore how people lit their homes before the invention of electricity. Using artifacts from our education collection, children will get an up-close look at vintage candle molds and lanterns.

The program features:

  • Storytime and Music: An engaging historical storybook followed by a lively song-and-dance activity.
  • Hands-on Craft: Every student will hand-roll their own beeswax candle to take home.

Perfect for curious toddlers and preschoolers, this program blends sensory play with Ozark heritage.

Note: This program meets at the Steele General Store on the museum grounds. Please arrive a few minutes early to get settled!
