Mobile Phone Photography Techniques

Photo of a small waterfall in a creek or river.Join Melissa Jones of the Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas for a workshop on smartphone photography in this Not Strictly History program. This class will focus on iPhone and Android phones. The first portion of this class will be in the museum Meeting Room and the last portion will be outside on the museum grounds. Please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Melissa L. Jones is a nature, landscape and architecture photographer, as well as the former technology columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Having spent many years reviewing mobile phones, as well as improving her digital photography skills, she offers a unique, double-sided perspective on digital smartphone photography. She specializes in weather photography (she is a certified storm spotter), nature/landscape and historic iron bridges.Photo of a red-colored daisy or black-eyed Susan.

Melissa graduated from the University of Arkansas and, after a brief stint in Pine Bluff and Little Rock, returned to Northwest Arkansas. After working at the newspaper and in TV news for several years, she is now the senior content creator for local marketing firm Clear Partnering Group. She’s also a member of the Arkansas Artist Registry and has won numerous awards in journalism and photography. She is a longtime member of the Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas and is currently serving as executive chairperson. When she’s not out shooting with her Nikon digital camera or iPhone 16, she’s out taking film shots with one of her antique cameras in her collection.
