Join the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History for a hands-on Photo Preservation Workshop on Wednesday, October 22, at the Bridge Church in Siloam Springs. Learn how to safeguard family photographs and documents while gaining practical tips from museum staff on archiving and digitization.

Workshop Highlights
Part One: Caring for Photographs
|Get an introduction to the history of photography and the most common types of photos. Learn best practices for organizing, documenting, handling, storing, and displaying personal photograph collections. Bring two photographs and a photocopy of each for a hands-on activity in storage and documentation.

Part Two: Digitizing Images

Explore the basics of digital preservation, including copyright, storage practices, file types, and metadata. Bring two photographs, photocopies, and a personal camera or phone to practice digitizing your images.

Additional resources will be available, including Black history research materials, advisory committee signups, and opportunities to participate in oral history projects. Staff will also showcase recommended supplies and equipment to fit different needs and budgets.
