2 to 4 p.m.
Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave., Springdale, AR 72764
Inspired by the historic images of family portraits in front of homes on view in the Shiloh Museum’s Ozark Home, Beyond the Frame exhibition, artist Kim Ly will lead guests through a step-by-step process of creating their own home-inspired photo collage from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at the museum. Kim will share images of her photo collage artwork, which is inspired by her transnational identity. All art materials will be provided, though guests are encouraged to bring their own photos of home, which will be copied for inclusion in their collages. This workshop is open to teens age 15 and older and adults.
Kim Ly identifies as a Vietnamese-American female artist who seeks ways to represent her own lived experiences. Her work focuses on the concept of transnationality, the principle where people feel they belong in more than one place or culture simultaneously. She makes art to process and share her transnational experience as a way of introspection and to contribute to the larger story of migration. Kim’s artwork was recently on view at The Medium as part of the sister exhibition to Ozark Home, Beyond the Frame. Her work is currently on view through the end of June at Perrodin Supply Co. as part of the ASSEMBLY Biennial.
Shown here is a collage by Kim Ly.
