National History Day Workshop for Teachers
On Wednesday, July 29, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is hosting a workshop for teachers about National History Day. It is open to school librarians and educators in 6th to 12th grade social studies, Gifted and Talented programs, drama, literacy, and technology. Angela Adams, the National History Day Arkansas Affiliate Coordinator and BSE Supervisor at University of Central Arkansas, will be leading the workshop.
Participants will learn how this program allows students to shine and build confidence through performances, papers, exhibits, websites, and documentaries. National History Day also meets literacy frameworks and offers students opportunities to strengthen their skills in research, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Participants will also learn about the 2027 National History Day theme and have the chance to collaborate with other teachers in their region.
Staff of the Shiloh Museum will also showcase their free educational resources available to teachers and guide participants through the museum’s exhibit hall, which includes exhibits ranging from prehistoric history in the Arkansas Ozarks through today.
Up to six hours of Arkansas professional development credit will be available for educators attending this workshop. Lunch will also be provided. This workshop is free but pre-registration is required as space is limited.
